Lying Ted — Terms of Service

By installing, accessing, or playing Lying Ted (the “Game”), you agree to these Terms of Service (the “Terms”) and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Game.

Operator

• Lying Ted is operated by Brian Nabiswa.
• Google Play developer name: Nabiswa.

Eligibility

• You must be at least 13 years old. If you are 13–17 (or under the age of majority in your region), you must have a parent or guardian’s consent.
• The Game is not directed to children under 13 and must not be used by them.

Your Account

• Anonymous sign-in is used by default. You may optionally link Google/Apple to save progress across devices.
• You must accept the latest Terms and Privacy Policy before matchmaking or joining private games.
• Some features (such as setting a custom nickname and appearing on leaderboards) require linking your account.
• Nicknames must follow our guidelines: 2–8 characters, no emojis, and no offensive or misleading content. We may enforce change cooldowns and reset or disable nicknames that violate policy.
• Do not impersonate others, evade moderation, sell accounts, or create multiple accounts to gain unfair advantage.

Ads & Rewards

• The Game may show rewarded ads (optional) and occasional interstitial ads. Ad availability can vary by region, device, and inventory.
• If you choose to watch a rewarded ad, we may grant in-game benefits (for example, overdraft or other boosts). Rewards are not guaranteed and may be delayed or denied if verification fails or we detect abuse.
• Ad personalization controls (where available) are managed by your device and/or the ad provider.

Gameplay & Fair Play

• Words must be valid per the in‑game dictionary. Some words are disallowed for policy reasons even if they are in the dictionary.
• Attempts, time limits, and placement rules are enforced server‑side. Do not cheat, exploit bugs, reverse‑engineer, or use unauthorized clients or automation.
• “Net worth” and other values are virtual and have no real‑world monetary value.

Acceptable Use

• Keep it respectful. Prohibited content and conduct include: harassment or hate; sexual content (especially involving minors); explicit profanity; doxxing or disclosure of private information; dangerous/illegal activity; spam or scams.
• Nicknames, submitted words, invites, and AI interactions are subject to these rules.

AI Disclosures

• “Ted” provides AI‑generated commentary and clues that may be inaccurate or incomplete. Treat AI output as entertainment, not advice.
• AI clues are optional and can be disabled in Settings.
• We filter AI output and user content against a profanity/banned list, but mistakes can occur.

Reporting, Blocking, and Enforcement

• You can report players, words, AI messages, and invites in‑app and block other players to avoid future pairings.
• We may take action at our discretion, including removing content, disabling nicknames, banning a word from the dictionary, cancelling a match, restricting features, suspending or terminating accounts, or notifying platforms.
• We may rate‑limit actions and require App Check/device integrity to protect the service.

Leaderboards

• Leaderboards generally include eligible accounts (for example, linked/non‑anonymous accounts that have played at least one game) and may hide inactive users after a period. Rankings and badges may change and can be recalculated or pruned.

Ownership & License

• We (or our licensors) own the Game and its content. You receive a personal, revocable, non‑transferable license to use the Game.
• You grant us a worldwide, royalty‑free license to use, store, display, reproduce, and modify your user content (e.g., nickname, submitted words) solely to operate, improve, and moderate the Game.

Updates & Changes

• We may update these Terms or the Game at any time. If changes are material, we will notify you in‑app and may require re‑acceptance before continued play.

Account Deletion and Termination

• You can request account deletion in-app via Settings > Delete Account, on our account deletion page (https://sites.google.com/view/lyingted-acc-del/home), or by emailing lyingtedgame@gmail.com with subject "Account Deletion Request - Lying Ted".
• After verification, we delete your account and associated data as described in the Privacy Policy.
• We may retain limited information where required for legal compliance, security, fraud prevention, or dispute resolution, for the periods described in the Privacy Policy.
• Deletion is irreversible and ends access to account-based features.
• We may suspend or terminate access where necessary to protect the service, comply with law, or enforce these Terms.

Governing Law & Disputes

• These Terms are governed by the laws of Kenya.
• Any disputes arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Game will be resolved in the courts of Nairobi, Kenya.
• If you are a consumer in the EU/UK/EEA (or another jurisdiction with mandatory consumer protections), nothing in these Terms limits your statutory rights.

Apple Standard EULA (iOS)

• If you downloaded the Game from Apple’s App Store, your license to the iOS app may also be governed by Apple’s standard end user license agreement (unless Apple presents a different license).
• These Terms apply to your use of the Game services (such as gameplay, accounts, matchmaking, and moderation). If there is a conflict for the iOS app license, the Apple license controls for that license only.

Severability

• If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in effect.

Third‑Party Services

• The Game relies on third‑party services (for example: Apple/Google app stores, Google Firebase/Cloud, Google Mobile Ads/AdMob, and AI services used for “Ted”).
• Your use of those services may be subject to their separate terms and policies.
• If you downloaded the Game from Google Play, your use may also be subject to Google Play’s terms and policies.

Disclaimers & Liability

• The Game is provided “as is” without warranties to the maximum extent permitted by law.
• To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Game.
• To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim arising out of or relating to the Game is limited to the greater of (a) USD $50 and (b) the amounts you paid us for the Game in the 12 months before the claim (if any).
